DARE Stratos II+ update and Engine Testing

The students at DARE have posted the first in a series of video logs describing their Stratos II+ rocket and their upcoming launch campaign. The video covers the broad range of groups working on the project and focuses in this episode on the electronics team.

DARE have also posted video of their recent engine tests, one of which had an over pressure event destroying the main valve and releasing Nitrous Oxide from the run tanks, the event was put down to a “incomplete motor ignition caused by a structurally unsound igniter housing. Unburned nitrous oxide and fuel vapours accumulated in the motor until they were suddenly ignited”. A more in depth update regarding the engine testing can be found here.
